ST: And now, the exciting conclusion

On to part two, finishing up what started in the last post. I think, overall, this was a good choice for the series. It allowed for the development of the characters as much as for interesting stories and plots.

The "last time, on Star Trek" is not clips of the previous episodes as much as just a summary of what happened by Kirk for his official log. A solid choice as well, I think. Finishing after the jump.

The majority of this episode will be the pilot episode, I believe. It starts with minimal exposition after what would have been the first commercial break.

Pike calls the Enterprise a "space vehicle" instead of a starship.

The yeoman on Pike's Enterprise is a red-headed girl that's a lot more attractive than Yeoman Rand.

Hah! The alien  he's set up to fight looks like a bad conversion of Jaws from the James Bond films into a Mongol barbarian.

It's kinda funny that the technology for the incapacitated Pike is far inferior to what currently exists.

At least the first doctor seems to have a good grasp on the implications of the immense powers of illusions.

If the aliens can read minds, experience the emotions vicariously, etc. Why do they need to use a screen to watch what happens?

Ah, the classic scene with the crazy green dancing alien. I wonder if this is the only one? I thought there was one of those with Kirk. I guess I'll find out. They should have gotten a better dancer. Syd Charisse in Singin' in the Rain was a lot more enticing than the actress playing Veena.

"Too intelligent to kill for no reason at all"? That's stupid. People who are very intelligent kill for idiotic reasons or no reason.

The way the "veins" in the Talosian's heads flex when they think and it's super-creepy.

IMDB tells me that Number One from the pilot later was the voice of the computer through all the other series. Which is pretty awesome.
