ST: Charles, no!

Still Trekking. Charlie X is the next episode up. It's painful to watch. The eponymous character is so completely devoid of any social ability that it's difficult to keep your eyes on the screen. The episode also has the song styles of Uhura to Spock's badly pantomimed playing of some sort of lyre.

As always, I'm gonna spoil things after the jump.

Kirk takes it awfully easy when Charlie magicks one of his crewmen out of existence. In fact, he takes the whole thing rather cheerfully. He hand-waves away the the destruction of a ship and the deaths of everyone on board.

Spock got all the good lines too. "We're in the hands of an adolescent."

Yeoman Rand is awfully sanguine about Charlie giving her a smack on the bum, but she is admirably forceful about not giving into threats.

Then the whole thing gets weird. He randomly makes a woman aged, takes peoples faces away, etc.

You'd think that when the aliens who imbued him with that power showed up, they didn't have any way to strip him of the power so he could stay with the humans. Which seemed a bit odd. I guess this episode was about how power corrupts?
